watched the whole series just to get aboard the hype and was completely blown away by the interesting themes and slow burning style. definitely a movie that i don't know how i should review. i'll probably rewatch it a few times before my final judgment though read

pues esta parte final, mantiene un poco todo lo que ya vimos en la anterior. es decir, ralladas made in japan, solo para muy muy fans del genero. yo no me enteré de casi nada, se desconecta con facilidad. read

utterly harrowing; i had already seen this cinematic conclusion to neon genesis evangelion about a year and a half ago now, but it still pierces my mind with horrific imagery of doomsday, frankly showing the vices and weakness of humanity. whatever stark the exhibition of radical depression is punctuated by a poignant reminder of who we are and our purpose to be together. an extremly dark, chaotic, beautiful experience. read

it's taken me like two weeks to process this film and i still don't have the words to describe it. i did watch the show first, and i loved it. i heard this movie served as sort of an alternate ending, which had me curious. even having full context for everything that went on, i was still lost through the second half of the movie. in a mad scramble for context and understanding, i desperately latched onto whatever detail or bit of dialog i could as the movie was now sailing clear above my head at cruising altitude. for some, this could be a frustrating prospect- but i was absolutely read

first, we need to get out of the way that if you watch this film without watching the series, it's like popping in to a theater in the last 10 minutes of a movie. how much would you appreciate or even understand? it could, in fact, ruin the entire story for you. so... don't do that. commit to watching the series, it's very rewarding. okay, so now, anyone reading this review either knows the respectfully-awed tones people speak of this series in, or they have stumbled upon it and wonder what the hype is. essentially, the series starts as a trope-y "teen boy gets giant robot and fights monsters... read

this film provided a much sought alternate ending to the original series' refusal to provide any ending at all. it is much needed, and well-written. read

if the tv series is “a bout de souffle” this is “pierrot le fou”. its a shame that one of the best films of the 90s is hidden behind the plot wall that is the tv series, but for those brave enough to go thru it all, its one of the most rewarding sequence of images not only in animation but in film in general. the best anime has to offer, nothing comes close. the whole anime industry lives in the shadow of evangelion, and they know it. read

Watched again today but this time on a CRT TV with slight overscan. Amazing how I can rewatch this film so many times and its still engaging to me, with most films I dont watch them in one sitting Ill pause and get up sporadically. Only other movies like that for me were stop making sense and The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
Extremely solid pacing read

Finally, after long last, I have managed to watch the End of Evangelion. It was worth any wait.
Those not familiar with the series will have no clue what's happening, so you should at least watch the first 24 episodes. End of Eva takes place as an alternative to the last 25 and 26th episodes. It may sound confusing, but trust me, if you just sit back and enjoy the ride, everything makes sense...even if not right away.
The final Angel has been killed. The 'hero' of the story, Shinji Ikari, now regrets doing it, as he was the only person who seemed to ever like him for who he was. But there... read

i live in the country. vans carrying livestock pass all the time, and there's also a chicken factory that smells like fuck if the wind decides to push the stench your way. so im not sure what exactly it was, but the minute i finished this movie i could smell nothing but what was either animal shit or guts, and i dont know if that could have happened at a more fitting time read
