i really hate this movie.
it's so stupid, on so many levels.
but, what gets me even more- is how many people actually like it.
this is easily the worst batman movie since batman & robin, the only difference is the lack of day glo. christopher nolan shot this like a serious movie, edited it like a serious movie, but it's not- it's completely ridiculous. a big freakin' mess. anyone who gives this a decent rating is simply incapable of seeing past the serious visuals of the movie- fooling them into thinking this is a serious and well made piece of cinema.
spoiler alert:
it's not.
edit:
the plot is mindnumbingly truncated and it seriously undermines batman's character.
the movie opens with bruce wayne essentially in hiding, no longer batman. so, yay, he got rid of organized crime- but then quit? what about un-organized crime? that doesn't count. rapists, murderers, muggers, carjackers- batman doesn't give a shit about any of that.
thematically speaking, his big weird reclusive state should've come after bane broke him. we didn't need a redundant arc like that. furthermore, catwoman felt like an odd inclusion to the movie, and having her kill bane was absurd- robbing batman of actually resolving the fight that broke him. lazy writing.
then, there's the fact that talia al ghul's death scene looks like it was ripped right out of a sitcom. there's a bomb in the back of the truck, but batman, gordon, and catwoman just stand around listening to her last words. oh, and the climax of the movie boils down to "somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
