the conclusion of the dark knight trilogy is thankfully a lot less dark than its predecessors, and is a fitting tribute to gotham, its protectors, and people - (side note: boy do i miss it, esp the 2-level queensboro dmz which used to mask gps signals till i learnt the route to the upper level.) ok, back to the movie: brilliant vehicles (& suits), but what a waste of a talented cast: cotillard, freeman, oldman, neeson, hathaway. only caine was allowed to shine in his few minutes as a teary, faithful butler. the opener seemed a bit too bond rather than bat, but had a rough-around-the-edges read

whilst i enjoy the film it really isn't as focused or well thought out as the previous two. it has a story that needed to be seeded by the previous two or at least the dark knight. they linked it all together but i'd love to have seen some hints by the previous films of all this work to lock down gotham was going ahead that you only get on a re-watch of the trilogy. the scale of the explosives being set around gotham doesn't really match the timeline we're being presented with on sheer scale. show that work in the previous two and you're going to blow minds. read

the dark knight trilogy in imax 70mm finishes off with a pretty perfect capper to the last two movies. i remember liking this movie a lot on it's original release but thinking it wasn't up to par with either of the first two. i was wrong; watching all three back to back this worked perfectly as the final piece to the trilogy. exciting, tense and glorious to behold. i can't stress this enough but this is by far one of the greatest, if not the greatest trilogies of all time. read

the franchise challenge - nolans batman favourite director - chris nolan the dark knights rises: this doesnt reach the heights of the 1st two but its pretty dam close. again i think the cast is great around the superb bale as batman. special mention to hardy as bain, obviously not as good as ledger as the joker but a worthy adversary. excellent finish to nolans dark knight saga - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read

after the death of his parents, bruce wayne (christian bale) takes a journey to find himself and is looking for a purpose in his life. his adventure eventually takes him back to gotham city, where he tries to frighten criminals with his new alter ego: batman. it's hard to imagine nowadays that movies starring superheroes didn't guarantee financial success. still, batman, arguably dc's most famous superhero, had a rough time at the turn of the decade due to the demise of batman & robin (1997). fortunately, christopher nolan's batman begins (2005) managed to change things. nolan's approach read

i struggled with this film when i left the theater for the first time. but the more i watch it, the more i love it. it has issues, you have to suspend disbelief a bit more than id like, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. read

i really hate this movie. it's so stupid, on so many levels. but, what gets me even more- is how many people actually like it. this is easily the worst batman movie since batman & robin, the only difference is the lack of day glo. christopher nolan shot this like a serious movie, edited it like a serious movie, but it's not- it's completely ridiculous. a big freakin' mess. anyone who gives this a decent rating is simply incapable of seeing past the serious visuals of the movie- fooling them into thinking this is a serious and well made piece of cinema. spoiler alert: it's not. edit: the plot... read

despite the flaws and plot holes in this film i cannot stress enough how perfect it is of a conclusion. i genuinely teared up at how perfect this trilogy is. sure, the first dragged at times and this third one had more flaws, but none of those downsides disregard the fact that nolan gave us 3 perfect batman stories with some beautiful storytelling and a majestic score , by the legend hans zimmer, that helps elevate each scene in all 3 films, all while providing a chilling theme for the batman. not only that, the performances were all picked out perfectly from the smallest characters such as... read

when i first saw this film in the theater, i was disappointed at the lost potential. i would've given it a 7/10 at that time. this was my first time re-watching it since then, and i have to say that now that i've got some distance from nolan's trilogy.... i really hated this one. there are many redeeming qualities. i like most of the look of this movie, nolan knows cinematography. i like the sound of the movie, i'm a fan of hans zimmer. i like a lot of the actors in the movie, particularly hathaway and caine, who rise above some especially weak material they're given. but that material is the... read

Batmans Bane
“The Dark Knight Rises.”
By Anthony Lane
July 23, 2012
With his new film, “The Dark Knight Rises,” Christopher Nolan completes the triptych that he started with “Batman Begins” (2005) and continued with “The Dark Knight” (2008). So now we have the full saga of our hero, from childhood trauma to grand apotheosis. We see how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), the compulsive loner and eccentric billionaire, has transformed himself into Batman, the scourge of evil and savior of Gotham City. At last, we are able to grasp what links these two incarnations: each, it turns out, is... read

Not as good as The Dark Knight, which is an impossible task, but still a great movie.
There are a few moments that drag on a bit though. can't help but feel if it was cut down to about 2 hours it would have been close to perfect.
