the conclusion of the dark knight trilogy is thankfully a lot less dark than its predecessors, and is a fitting tribute to gotham, its protectors, and people - (side note: boy do i miss it, esp the 2-level queensboro dmz which used to mask gps signals till i learnt the route to the upper level.) ok, back to the movie: brilliant vehicles (& suits), but what a waste of a talented cast: cotillard, freeman, oldman, neeson, hathaway. only caine was allowed to shine in his few minutes as a teary, faithful butler. the opener seemed a bit too bond rather than bat, but had a rough-around-the-edges read more

whilst i enjoy the film it really isn't as focused or well thought out as the previous two. it has a story that needed to be seeded by the previous two or at least the dark knight. they linked it all together but i'd love to have seen some hints by the previous films of all this work to lock down gotham was going ahead that you only get on a re-watch of the trilogy. the scale of the explosives being set around gotham doesn't really match the timeline we're being presented with on sheer scale. show that work in the previous two and you're going to blow minds. read more

the dark knight trilogy in imax 70mm finishes off with a pretty perfect capper to the last two movies. i remember liking this movie a lot on it's original release but thinking it wasn't up to par with either of the first two. i was wrong; watching all three back to back this worked perfectly as the final piece to the trilogy. exciting, tense and glorious to behold. i can't stress this enough but this is by far one of the greatest, if not the greatest trilogies of all time. read more

after the death of his parents, bruce wayne (christian bale) takes a journey to find himself and is looking for a purpose in his life. his adventure eventually takes him back to gotham city, where he tries to frighten criminals with his new alter ego: batman. it's hard to imagine nowadays that movies starring superheroes didn't guarantee financial success. still, batman, arguably dc's most famous superhero, had a rough time at the turn of the decade due to the demise of batman & robin (1997). fortunately, christopher nolan's batman begins (2005) managed to change things. nolan's approach read more

i struggled with this film when i left the theater for the first time. but the more i watch it, the more i love it. it has issues, you have to suspend disbelief a bit more than id like, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. read more
