gorgeously shot but not quite as elegant as what it hints at. stuck somewhere between being a dumb monster movie and something more, i don't know if i want more but it definitely feels like they did. read more

basically "hey! aren't ants awesome?!", the movie. firstly, a lot of people probably know of this as a film that mst3k did, and yeah, there is for sure enough wackiness here to have fun mocking. but i actually watched a fanedit ("phase iv: evolution") which attempted to reveal an honest-to-goodness psychedelic artpiece underneath this film, and i'd say it succeeded admirably. step 1 was to strip away the voiceover narration for the film. you can't have a psychedelic experience with that voice explaining everything. step 2 was to lean into the super-high-res close-up ant video with some even... read more

Sono apprezzabili solo tutte le inquadrature del mondo delle formiche che sono così maniacali da essere ipnoticamente meravigliose! Trascurando la trama inutile e forse troppo filosofeggiante a livello visivo questo film colpisce eccome. E' anche molto documentaristico nelle riprese e questo non dispiace.
