like andy, i too would have gotten a buzz lightyear toy asap after seeing this movie if i were younger. i think this ticks all the boxes in a younger version of me. sci-fi stuff, robot villains, space, etc. doesn't have to be airtight sci-fi, it's a kids' movie after all. it's a good origin story with a surprising amount of emotional depth, even in the first act. i really need my own sox or doctor who k-9 equivalent. read more

Buzz has always been my favorite character from Toy Story. And Toy Story was probably one of my most watched movies growing up. And I most certainly enjoyed watching the Buzz Lightyear show when it was on before school. So when it was announced we were getting this film I was pretty excited, unsure, but excited. Buzz has been one of my favorite characters for as long as I can remember, and is probably a huge reason I love space. While at the beginning of the movie we got way too may references to TS or Buzz's action figure, I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The references could read more

Lightyear is a great sci-fi movie never mind a great Pixar movie! Why did this have to fail at the box office? I just want to say here that Chris Evans is not as good as Tim Allen. Chris Evans did a great job here but Tim Allen is the actor all the Toy Story fans know and love! Please just dont hate Chris Evans just because Pixar replaced the person you knew in the role for years, give someone a chance. All the characters here are likeable! What do you choose-- be perfect or live a meaningful life with wonderful memories. That is what Buzz has to deal with. He can either be perfect, by erasing everything and following what the future version of himself said. Or he can choose to live in an imperfect world with imperfect people but wonderful memories. Buzz chooses the later. This show emphasizes that the memories we spent with our loved ones, be it family or friends, far exceeds being a perfect individual with no fond memories.
