not sure how to record a fan edit of a film. just used tags. a strange one for me. i can't say all the additions did anything to the film. neither an improvement or a detriment. if i ignore the alien links then this is a fine film about a space adventure that goes tits up. read more

i don't care what anyone says prometheus is a great movie and a perfect prequel to alien. it does almost everything right and sets up the classic 70's movie almost perfectly. yeah, it has a couple problems but not enough to ruin the amazing time you will have with this movie. what if there was no god? what if we were created by aliens? what if they did it just because and for no other reason? that's the story of prometheus and it tells of mankind's journey to find them and get answers. it's a smart script for the most part although it does have a few issues that are the opposite of clever.... read more

the franchise challenge - alien prometheus: im not sure how i feel about this film ... if this was a stand alone film and not a prequel to alien then i think its actually decent enough. however it is a prequel to alien and im not sure it really works. creators, black goo, doctor shaw give the “birth” to a random squid thing, which she seems to get over pretty quick, and also means shes the true mother of all the alien xenomorphs. its just odd and didnt work, as a prequel. however i enjoyed parts of it - ⭐️⭐️ read more

prometheus got a very fractured reaction from fans, who didn't seem to know what how to take what ridley scott had presented to them. i blame this primarily on the exceptional marketing job that was done by 20th century fox in promoting this film. i have rarely seen a film where so many people of varied tastes have been so excited for it. the levels of anticipation for this eclipsed even the avengers and the dark knight rises, which i do not at all feel was fair to the film as it couldn't possibly live up to those expectations. once it was released there were reactions across the spectrum read more

normally when watching films, i take notes for the review i'm going to write. that wasn't the case with prometheus, and unfortunately that isn't because it was an amazing and engrossing experience; rather, it's a very average film that just had nothing remarkable for me to even write notes about. there were some neat moments, especially in the second half, and the visual effects were really impressive, but overall prometheus just didn't leave any kind of lasting impression on me. it's totally okay. there's nothing wrong with it. there's just nothing really great about it either, though. read more

My quick rating 7;5/10. This is an excellent sci-fi flick. Interesting way to start a review; eh? It looks spectacular visually and editing as well. The story itself is unique (i believe it was a comic book at some point) but either way the plot will draw you in. Noomi Rapace does an excellent job in the lead; but no surprise there; she is a great actress. I did find the other characters a tad bit irritating aside from the Captain. Charlize Theron was used sparingly so not much to say (I read she was also considered for the lead). The action scenes are paced nicely and are used when needed... read more

Excellent sci-fi/horror movie from the director of Aliens.This is supposedly the events a long time before the Alien universe and it doiesn't fail to deliver.A good cast and as with the Aliens trilogy it keep up the thrills.Great special effects and rewatching this on Blu-Ray did not really detract from enjoying this a second time around. read more

After an original franchise run that passed between 4 different directors for as many different films. I've decided that no one quite gets Alien the way Ridley Scott does. I don't object to fun space marine hangout films by any means, even the lower quality ones, but this feels more like a companion to the first film than any of the follow ups. As a sheer exercise in aesthetic world building, this rocks, the original Alien excels in practical effects and set design, but Ridley seems just as confident in his use of special effects, and Dariusz Wolski is a great DP, especially with read more

There were quite a few gory moments that actually made my skin crawl a bit and added into the realness of the situation with visiting a far-off planet. I think the premise of the story, its themes, and the design of the Engineers was well thought out and promising and honestly executed at the best of its abilities. I would have ranked it higher had they included a line I felt was prominent and would have driven the plot further plus added to the beauty and charm of the Engineers but was unfortunately cut from film as well as the ending that seemed a bit "odd".
