nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is and far too smug with what it did have. i can't say i didn't enjoy myself as the film itself was entertaining but the mystery and intrigue was severely lacking. yet another film which not only telegraphs a key plot point part way through the movie but also shows it in the trailer. anyone with half an ounce of intelligence was then "spoilt" as to what was happening towards the end of the film. great use of that wonderful building projection system. i've never seen it in person but they used it to great effect here in one scene. read more

the first half is more enjoyable, coasting on the charm of the cast, energetic pacing and flashy directing. it's like a castle of cards that wobble upon examination until it stops being an accomplishment at all. the characters get nothing: everything is covered by their introductions, except an incredibly lame romance and an equally lame twist (bonus negative points for the reveal being followed by an insulting flashback montage to show the face of a character in scenes where it was previously hidden, with no extra information or clarification to justify this). the twist was surprising only... read more
