the rogue cut certainly doesn't add much to the film. it's nice to see rogue but it's a bit pointless really. the film wasn't changed dramatically by her inclusion or exclusion. if you liked the original cut of this then you'll enjoy this. it changes nothing. read more

the x-men franchise has been fighting for its credibility for almost a decade now. the fox-produced marvel franchise was one of the first to truly get superhero films right in this current "golden age" of the genre with the bryan singer-directed first two entries, but x-men: the last stand badly lost its way and x-men origins: wolverine dragged the whole thing even further down. ground was made up by matthew vaughn's x-men: first class but to truly make its way back, fox had to turn to the man who got them off on the right foot in the first place in singer. x-men: days of future past read more

this is one of the reasons i am not stoked about the x-men joining the mcu. this is a distinct film that feels completely different then all the samey marvel movies. the next x-men movie will be a standard mcu flick and while i'm sure it will be perfectly enjoyable, it won't have a distinct and separate personality like the fox x-men movies had when they were good (and i will admit, they usually weren't). read more
