22 years after the original jurassic park comes jurassic world, a sequel that pretends parts 2 and 3 never happened. it is also better than both those sequels. sure lost world has some golden stuff in it that beats anything in this one but it also has some stuff so bad it makes this one look like an oscar contender. now people out there are gonna hate on this movie and it's easy to see why. first, it's not the original film or as good as the original (how many films are or ever will be?) and second, it's somewhat light on plot and heavy on action and it's got a few cheesy moments. but come on... read more

run of the mill hollywood summer flick that i went into expecting nothing, and emerged undisappointed. a standard tale of the greed of man versus the forces of nature with considerably less gore and suspense than its disenfranchised prequels. this movie felt like the themepark joyride it was set in, which.is fine, if that's what you're looking for. read more

i was worried. genuinely worried about this. thankfully i had a great time. afternoon off work, nice lunch with my sister-in-law before we placed ourselves dead centre of the imax for an event we'd be waiting for nearly 15 years. we were able to take a couple of drinks in with us. we sat there and just grinned from start to finish. i don't care about high heels, plot contrivances, nonsensical character backgrounds etc. i just wanted to be entertained and see some dinosaurs on screen. if they fought that was even better but i was nonplussed. that first shot of jurassic world, a panorama of the... read more

imagine jurassic park passed several times through a jaded and cynical lens and dragged into the modern world and modern culture. now imagine that the film goes on to explore our current cultural situation and the state of the film industry today. sound awesome? yeah it does. it's not this movie though. nope. the film quickly devolves into standard action-adventure fare and looses its sharp critique and subtext to deliver us a film that is, essentially, exactly what parts of the jurassic world are critiquing about certain parts of filmmaking today. throw in a half-baked b plot designed to read more

This film was filled with everytjing I could have expected. We got plenty of dinosaur time along with some heavy feels. I also feel like it focused so much on the dinosaurs (obviously the disaster with making them) and not too much on a usual sappy side story. We got one, but it wasnt shoved down our throats force feeding us crap we probably didn't want to see the film for. What we got was a crap ton of dino and a crap ton of dino action. Can't deny that I went full on cheese seeing all the dinosaurs. 5/5 WILL WATCH A MILLION MORE TIMES. read more

I was so excited when this came out. The original plan was for me and my sister to go opening night dressed as dinosaurs. That didn't happen, but we did go opening night. And it was really good! It's not an amazing movie, but it's solid. I consider it pretty close to JP3 (3 is probably more rewatchable, but JW is better). Chris Pratt is pretty good, but I really hate when he tries to be too serious ("it depends on what kind of dino you cooked up in that lab"). read more

Velociraptor wrangler tries to stop a genetically-engineered new dinosaur running amok in the titular theme park, saving two kids and winning back his former girlfriend in the process. My quick rating - 7;4/10. Can't do proper review; parts were too hard to see since; I ; err; had bad seats at the theater; yeah that is it. Anyway; followed the original idea much more with the fear and uneasy idea of messing with nature plus wasn't afraid to kill humans off in the process (I remember the original had parents up in arms since it was scary) Well; it is supposed to be. Well worth it to see and deserving of 511 million dollars in 3 days. I may fully review it after watching again; but you should get the idea; watch this movie. read more

Bursting out of development hell in the middle of the decade, Jurassic World is a carefully crafted criticism of shitty Hollywood blockbusters that was itself a shitty Hollywood blockbuster. Tragically, the movie went on to make over a billion dollars, "forcing" the studio to greenlight another, even shittier sequel, and making Jurassic World a perfect metaphor for our current era of generic tentpole films. read more

Chris Pratt funny man, but they try to spell out how cool he is wayyy too much. The fps raptor scene sucked too, but as a whole package, I like this movie a lot.
