Fantastic Four

i was excited for this movie. then the reviews came in and they were terrible. i read some of them. they said the film had a horror movie tone and had a cronenberg like body horror vibe to it. if this was true then a) i would love the film and b) this is why it got bad reviews (horror usually does). so i went to see it. and even though it started out really good it never lived up to it's promise and was ultimately a let down and a bad film. there was no horror element and the body horror aspect was pretty much non existent. instead we get a cool first 20 minutes, then a generic hour of set up... read more

i think this plays better for someone who is not a comics fan. it is quite harmless and watchable as a simple sf movie. i understand that it fails badly as a fantastic four movie, and i found some of it obvious in the weak, halting characterization. the final confrontation was boring, endless, and cinematographically mediocre to a sophomoric degree. it might have been better as an original movie, not that there was anything original about it at all; it was just dragged down by the ff connection, and the promises it couldn't fulfill. then again, the fantastic four franchise was the reason it... read more
