sneakers (1992) - perfectly paced heist film - (7/10) a fast-paced, decently acted, supremely scored thriller that does not let you down. sneakers is a sci-fi comedy thriller based on a world where the p vs. np problem has just been solved. the film does not trust the viewer to understand the intricacies of mathematics, nor does it ever mention p vs. np, but that's beside the point. sneakers blends in perfect dose of everything that makes a film enjoyable (score, acting, pacing, transition) with a smidgen of a message for the viewers to contemplate about. sneakers does it all with an aura of... read more

cosy if slight little weekend thriller that stars a bunch of people in the exact roles you're expecting them to be: robert redford? the straight man. river phoenix? horny little toad. mary mcdonnell? looks like a good hugger. sidney poitier? hard-ass family man. dan aykroyd? annoying alien conspiracist at a party that no one wants to talk to. read more

This feels like if you had an Oceans 11 kind of vibe with a James Bond type device to steal that could destroy the world as we know it, its got a crazy stacked cast for when it came out and gets by a lot on charm. Theres nothing in this movie you probably havent seen before, but Im such a sucker for 90s tech being all futuristic and doing things technology could never do. The analog tech they use at the same time is a lot of fun too like with tracing phone calls and other random spy stuff.
