this film just surprised me in the best of all imagineable ways. i didn't know jack about it, hadn't seen any of these trailers (that give away half the movie nowadays but you can read me rant about this topic on a lot of different occasions these days - nuff said - at least here and for now) and fell in love with it forthwith. totally relatable and you agree with them, you understand what drives there decissions may these be totally rational or more often maybe of pure emotional nature.....always humans you can understand not some superheros doing superhero 's stuff and therefore most of the... read more

i can't pretend to be unbiased here, i started listening to emily & kumail's podcast during a lonely time in my life, and learned a lot about them before they announced its (probably permanent now) hiatus to work on this movie. it took a bit longer for me to get to this, mostly because of falloween and i was pretty sure i was gonna love it either way. kumail rules, ray romano & holly hunter knock it out of the park, and zoe kazan definitely comes as close as you can hope to emily's character. it's ultimately more kumail's story, despite the title. so i guess my only complaint is that i would... read more

being aromantic, love stories are generally not something i can get into so i pretty much avoid any and all romance films but the big sick is very highly rated and was recommended to my by several people. so i kept watching and waiting for something to happen that would make this special. after some time, the thing™ finally happened but i was still not invested at all. i think i enjoyed maybe two moments of this two hour film. the remaining 119 minutes were pure and complete boredom. the ending also kinda sucked. i'm just gonna only watch romance films if they're rated extremely highly from... read more
