3.5 stars. the hypnotism aspect changed the tone of the film, even though something menacing was expected all along. the end shriveled into routine gore and gun violence. the racial implications may make some feel guilty. good enough overall but also overrated. ms. williams may be more than another nbc 'talent', time will tell. read more

get out is a horror movie. get out is a horror movie that had 100% on rotten tomatoes. get out now sits at 99% on rotten tomatoes. is get out a perfect film? does get out deserve a perfect or near perfect rating? no and yes, respectively. it is not a perfect film. it takes ideas done before and spins them into new and fresh ideas making them seem more original than they are. yes it deserves a rotten tomatoes near perfect, if not perfect score. why? because rotten tomatoes is an aggregate score based on who liked a movie and who didn't, not a score on how good the actual movie was. and get out... read more

note to self: not scary in a horror way. the unsettling tone of the movie was captured so well. liked how the twist turned out, might say that this is a bit sci-fi-ish. i love the irony of the ending, because at the beginning of chris life it was his mom dying, left on the street coldly but in the end it was rose. read more

not my cup of tea honestly. it was engaging for the most part, this film had some great writing for half of the runtime, and despite being predictable, it is still engaging, that's what saved this one for me. the dialogues were good, mystery was well maintained for a considerable amount of the runtime and the acting was on point. good for a one time watch. read more

On a weekend visit at his caucasian fiancées family house, a black man gradually realizes their flaunted progressive attitude actually hides a frightful agenda. Influential little horror makes the racial satire from "Meet the Parents" more explicit and combines it with slasher film tropes and a sci-fi subplot reminiscent of "Being John Malkovich", but the high concept premise only works thanks to the affecting performances of leads Kaluuya and Williams. This movie was quite hyped up and while it was enjoyable I didn't find it as good as was expected. It was certainly an original idea and it won't do director Jordan Peele of "Key and Peele" fame any harm as I'm sure there will be a lot of directing offers in the future. There seemed to be an underlying racial tone here but I'm sure that was all part of the movie idea. Interesting read more

Finally got around to watching this one, and it's great. Somehow I was never spoiled, although I had a general idea of the premise, so that was pretty fun to see unfold. I did see Us (2019) by Jordan Peele which I, unfortunately, didn't like so I'm glad that Get Out gave me a much better experience. read more

i love how rose immediately tries to get rod to speak to her on the phone, and not only that, openly states 'of course its rod' because she knows if anyone is going to be onto the shit shes pulling chris into, its rod. she knows hes more than 'chris's crazy friend', and the more they talk, chris is gonna realise how right he is. they dont unplug his phone to stop him communicating with the outside world as a whole, they unplug it because they KNOW the only person hes talking to is rod, who KNOWS how this shit works. also the thing about the toenail collection. I've always loved this film and what, I thought at least, was a great satire on racism. While it might remain so, I recently had an experience that made me question if it is satirical or a documentary. I met a man in his late 60s who seemed to be somewhat nice. It wasn't long before he said "I would have voted for Obama a third time if I could have but..." then launching into one of the most racist rants id ever heard. It really makes me question if that was something Jordan Peele actually heard in real life. read more
