perhaps the most concise and damning movie about cultural appropriation we'll ever see. for the idiots in the back who don't get it, even out of willful ignorance, this movie writes it out in crayon. the artistry on display at face value is also stunning, and the craftsmanship behind this production is nothing short of masterful. an easy movie to recommend and it's perhaps more timely now than ever. read more

this is perhaps one of the best applications of that saying, "less is more". this film is very small (perhaps due to the limitations of the technique), but it's very charming, and a fun time. still can't decide whether it's a halloween or a christmas movie, but honestly, it's not a big deal after all. also, the spanish dubbing adds a lot for the experience, you can tell all of the actors had a lot of fun. definitely looking to watch again in english sometime. 9.6/10 read more

Yeah, I had never watched this movie and although I'm so glad I watched it, I also didn't feel like I had been missing out... There's a lot about this movie I really enjoyed. The set designs, the character designs and the concept were all fascinating and enchanting. I was so enamoured by this world. The idea of all these holidays having different towns is so cool - a concept I'd have loved to explore further. The music was cool too, lots of really catchy bops. Beautiful animation, wonderful music, genuinely some pretty touching/funny moments that landed really well. I know people get annoyed when this movie is credited towards Tim Burton cause he "didn't really do much" but screw that, dude is the reason this movie has the style it does, I love Henry Selick and he absolutely did most of the work, but it's unfair to discredit Tim Burton like that for as great a movie as this read more
