heres my opinion of ghostbusters (1984 i think): it was good because there were good comedians being funny in a movie that wasnt done badly. this movie is basically the same. some good cinematography and enough charm for you to like it. happy they actually got a movie on par with the original. read more

not terrible, and maybe because i already had low expectations? it's funnier than i thought it would be, which is a good thing. the young cast is great, even that podcast kid everyone apparently seemed annoyed by. i thought he was cute. in fact, most of this movie is cute. leave it to a ghostbusters sequel to accurately capture that small town "kids on bikes" movie aesthetic that everyone goes apeshit for. i liked the movie best when it was free to be its own weird thing. however, when they start talking about the original ghostbusters in this really reverential way- it sucks. it's just read more

Ghostbusters: Afterlife has a very good 3rd act & credits scene with lots of nostalgia but the first half fails to deliver! There is hardly any ghost-busting action-packed moments or ghost sightings in the first half, which makes it very boring as the original 1984 film was full of action! Our new cast here are good, but Paul Rudd and McKenna Grace do the best! Paul Rudd delivers most of the comedy superbly! McKenna Grace is the next Egon Spengler, which I felt was very respectful to Harold Ramis. The returning characters are the best part of this movie! The ending is a real treat to read more

My quick rating - 7;7/10. This is how you just look the other way and not concern yourself with the previous Ghostbusters attempt ( I didn't hate it; review here); This one not only dealt with the original two existing but it also did a surprisingly great job and not only respecting it for the classic it was but also incorporating the story into modern time. The cast was really varied well and sort of paired off in who interacts with who very some really good comedy. I had a great time. There was an over reliance on GB nostalgia/direct callbacks to the previous movies and the pacing had a few hitches in it, but those didn't make the movie less enjoyable for me. read more

Wow, I had fun with this. I wasn't a huge fan of the first 2, I thought they were ok but never got the hype. This is a welcome follow up to them. This movie is EXTREMELY sentimental and gives good nods to the originals.It's very predictable and slow in parts but overall worth a watch and a must see if your a fan of the first two. Of course being made in 2021 it had it's stereotypical agenda present (the girl is a scientist and "diverse" love interest etc) but not intolerable.I don't ever see myself watching that turd they made in 2016. read more
