the title alone made me not want to watch this. i could just smell sweat and dirt just by reading it. midway into the first scene, i had to pause for a moment to collect myself. the first 25 minutes overwhelmed and nauseated me with the close ups on the characters face and the shakiness of the camera. i dont know how but they made the color red look fucking disgusting on camera. there was so much happening in this scene that it seemed endless. so many people were in this one tiny room that it was honestly suffocating me. becky was like a tornado within those few minutes destroying everything... read more

there were elements of this that i thought were great. elisabeth moss' performance; the claustrophobic cinematography paired with the grimy, unfiltered sweaty hair, makeup and costuming; the unsettling score. however, the overall (fairly thin) storyline left me underwhelmed. perhaps it would have been more compelling if it was a non-fictional biopic because as it stood, i couldn't buy into becky something's supposed musical genius - a pretty important plot point that underpins the entire drama of the film. read more
