it just kind of meanders on for a while and then it is over. it's just boring. it is a good performance from andra day, but not an exceptional one. the problem here is just that lee daniels isn't much of a director. like all of his work that i have seen, it is a solid pitch that manifests as a slow, dull, overproduced drama. there is a lot of completely unnecessary sexuality injected throughout this. i'm not in the "there should never be a sex scene in a movie" camp, but this is some of their most compelling evidence. read more

В принципе, почти как и в прошлом году Джуди, этот фильм сделан чисто ради одной актрисы, и тут она справляется хорошо. Лично я Оскар бы отдал Ванессе Кирби, но знаю повесточку, то у Дэй большие шансы на победу.
