In 1970, feminist protestors attempt to disrupt the Miss World beauty competition - hosted by Bob Hope - just as the promoters strive to fend off accusations of ignoring colored competitors. While the female protagonists go for broke in their fight against sexism, the screenplay (by Gaby Chiappe and Rebecca Frayn) tackles the issue with colder feet and never finds a satisfactory way to combine it with the need for black women to be recognized as legitimate competitors, even if that means being scrutinized and evaluated as if they were cattle. A great British movie about a group of women trying to disrupt the 1970 Miss World beauty pageant. I found the true story interesting enough and all the performances were good. I am not sure about Greg Kinnears portrayal of bob Hope or even if he was as chauvinistic as appears. The cast is pretty decent and this movie is well worth the 100 minute running time. Recommended read more
