After twenty-five years and six Law & Order series, creator Dick Wolf, decided that it was time for a change. His latest idea centers around the heroes of Chicago, and what he did was basically take the show Third Watch, and split it up into three different TV series that interact with each other, on a semi-regular basis, with a fourth one coming later this year. Five seasons of this were refreshing and original making for entrancing, exciting and entertaining television. At launch it was a novel concept and a little ground breaking with a genuine presentation of female firefighters alongside their male counterparts. A strong blend of fire station procedural elements with the daily trials and tribulations of a decent ensemble cast. Some great characters, particularly the fabulous portrayal of Gabriela Dawson by Monica Raymund who anchored the show for me.
