I understand Damian Lewis left for personal reasons, but without him this show is average at best. I like Corey Stoll, but he cannot fill the void left by Axelrod’s departure. Billions was must-watch viewing for me, dynamic and fresh, each season with new impossible mountains to climb and spider webs to hold together. Axelrod managed to thwart his adversaries with wit, charm and cunning; he was a sheer force of nature. The cast is powerhouse (obviously). Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti are at the top of their game, and they make an excellent pairing (at first). The show starts off creating a perfect balance between the handsome, charismatic, likeable criminal billionaire played by Damian Lewis and the unattractive, distasteful (in some ways contemptible) but honest and justice-seeking United States Attorney played by Paul Giamatti. Billions is smart Wallstreet Game of Thrones. It's about intrigue, characters trying to outsmart each other and alliances & rivalries. At the core though it's a show about two VERY Alpha males in Billionair Bobby Axelrod & the New York district attorny Chuck Roads and them budding heads. this is also something you have to get past. Almost every character (male & female) is a redicolous Alpha Male/Female to the 17th degree.
